How the score works

For every rule that applies to the page, we look at the share of checked elements that fail it. Each rule is weighted by how much the problem affects people: critical 10, serious 7, moderate 4 and minor 1.

The score is 100 minus the weighted share of failures. When more than half of the applicable rules fail, the score is reduced by 10%; when more than 90% of them pass, it gets 3 extra points (up to 100).

What automated checks can't tell you

Automated tools detect only part of accessibility barriers. They cannot judge whether alternative text is meaningful, whether a checkout works with a keyboard or how a screen reader announces your content. A manual review by a person covers those areas.
